Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission(MCMC) issued a Notice announcing of the CLASS ASSIGNMENT NO. 3 OF 2015 in 2015. Among these changes, the cancellation of the following frequency band for Short Range Devices (SRD) and Radio Frequency Identification Device (RFID), will be active from 1st Jan 2018.

1. The use of the frequency band of 869 MHz to 870 MHz for SRD, security device, and RFID are only allowed until 31 December 2017.
2. The use of the frequency band of 868.1 MHz for security device is only allowed until 31 December 2017.

Regarding the operational restrictions of the SRD frequency, there are three more conditions listed in the CLASS ASSIGNMENT NO. 3 OF 2015 that you should know before apply Type Approval of SIRIM.

1. For SRD operating within the 5250-5350 MHz and 5470-5650 MHz frequency bands, the devices shall use Dynamic Frequency Selection("DFS") and Transmit Power Control ("PC");
2. The radiated Power Spectral Density ("PSD") for the devices operating within the 5250-5350 MHz and 5470-5650 MHz frequency band is limited to 10 mW/MHz; and
3. The devices operating in the frequency band 5150-5350 MHz are only for short range/indoor usage.
