The Radio Equipment Directive 2014/53/EU (RED) states that in addition to comply with the requirement of Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) electrical Safety, Radio equipment should effectively use the spectrum and avoid harmful interference.

One of the purposes of RED directives is to open some of the communication product type certification restrictions, and related units such as manufacturers, vendors are required to take responsibility of testing and certification. That is, by doing product testing and declaration of conformity voluntarily, without acquiring certification from notify body, vendors are able to declare that their products meet the requirement of CE mark, to sell in the European market.

International Standards Laboratory (ISL) is evaluated as a qualified testing laboratory and certification body by NCC and TAF, who can provide complete and professional services to the controlled telecommunications radio-frequency devices.
